Acclaro is thrilled to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the popular online community and event series LocLife™! We were proud to host eight highly engaging sessions over the past year, each exploring the human side of localization through insightful discussions about important issues. And now, we’re looking forward to a new season for LocLife™!
Insights, perspectives and connections
The inaugural session of LocLife™, Millennials. Figuring Life Out Together, set the stage with a panel of leading millennials in the localization industry discussing their hopeful outlooks, appreciation for flexible work environments and the importance of mentorship. This session was an excellent preamble to a later session, Is Ageism Getting Old? where an intergenerational panel of localization experts agreed: ageism still exists, but there are ways to combat it.
Throughout the year, each LocLife™ session built on others, fueling new topics and inspiring deeper conversations. For instance, the millennial and ageism conversations tied in nicely to Pride at Work: LGBTQ+ Perspectives and Equality Talks: Women on Leadership. From personal experiences to actionable advice, participants shared a wealth of knowledge on the influence that diversity and inclusion can have on career paths.
We also gained perspective from those who decided to leave their home countries for a career abroad during Localization Nomads: Living & Thriving Away from Home, finding that the bittersweet decision often comes with great rewards. We were rewarded with strategies, tactics and resources to achieve positive results in business, relationships and life during three uniquely insightful sessions, Live & Learn: Ways to Unleash Your Potential, Onward: Inspiring Perspectives from Loc Leaders and Spark Positivity, Ignite Change.
A community for all
As we look back on the past year, perhaps the most rewarding part of LocLife™ is the community that’s formed as a result of our online events. In addition to the growing attendance and active participation during each session, the LocLife™ Community continuously engages “LocLifers” in discussions before, during and after each event.
